Description: |
Nomads from high Central Persia bring down a few flocks to winter in the desert of the Jaz Murian, a wide desolate plain in Persian Baluchistan. Scrub and camel-thorn provide sufficient grazing to carry the fat-tailed sheep through to the Spring. The woman with an armful of young lambs carries some of the new arrivals long distances whilst the tribe is on trek. The photograph was taken early in December, 1935. |
