Description: Findlater Castle, 3.2 km. east of Cullen. Banffshire. Cliffs of flaggy micaceous psammites and semi-pelites of the Findlater Flag Formation. Part of the Precambrian Grampian Group. The castle is situated on a rocky peninsula overhanging the sea. It was fortified, with permission from the Crown in 1445 by Sir Walter Ogilvie, knight, of Auchleven.
