Description: Birtle Dean, 1/2 m. N. of Birtle. Looking E. Glacial overflow channel. Looking down this overflow channel (Cheesden Brook), which is the most important of those south-west of Knowl Hill. The near flanks of the channel are of Rough Rock dipping steeply downstream. The slopes in the distance are made by the shales above the Six Inch Mine.
