Description: Cliviger Gorge, from hill S. of Portsmouth Station. Looking E. Millstone Grit Series and Lower Coal Measures. Tower Quarry, behind the chimney, exposes Gorpley (Third) Grit, overlying shales with Reticuloceras reticuatum mut.[?] Bisat, and Hazel Greave Grit, cut off by the Cliviger Valley fault from the Lower Coal Measures on the left beyond and railway. In the distance are two escarpments of Kinderscout (repetition by faulting) the higher one being the 'Bride Stone'.
