Description: Culbin sand-hills. Morayshire. Wind-rippled surface of blown sand. The direction of sand-drift is obliquely from left to right i.e. from west to east. A variety of wind-rippled surfaces can form due to variations in slope, direction of the wind across the surface, the strength of the wind and the grain sizes of the sand. Note the tufts of marram grass.
