Description: Culbin sand-hills. Morayshire. Wind-rippled surface of blown sand. The direction of sand-drift is obliquely from left to right i.e. from west to east. Much of the blown sand is redistributed beach sand carried westwards by longshore drift and subsequently carried eastwards by the prevailing winds. It is considerably augmented by material derived from glacial sands. Note the higher points where vegetation is growing. It binds the sand and causes it to accumulate.
