Description: Maviston sand-hills. Morayshire. Pine forest for a time overwhelmed by advancing sand and its remains now laid bare by the further advance of the sand. As the dune advances further into the plantations the dead trunks are all that remain. A contemporary account by Mr. George Bain a local observer noted that the Maviston sand-hills travelled eastwards for nearly a mile in a generation.
