Description: | Below Abergavenny Arms Inn, Black Rock, Brighton. Looking N. Cliff-section at Black Rock. The descending successon shown is: Coombe Rock (Elephant Bed) with blocks of sandstone, one which projects under the lamp on right of view and another to left of iron pipe, about 50 feet. Raised beach, well shown at right-hand side of view, where its junction with the Coombe Rock is marked by a dark horizontal fissure, 8 to 10 feet. Raised beach platform, partly bared in right half of view. Chalk, about middle of Zone of Marsupites testudinarius, in lowest part of the cliff and on the foreshore. The talus on the left is part of the refuse tip seen in No. A2475. |
