Description: Maviston sand-hills. Morayshire. Sand advancing and overwhelming plantation of Scotch fir (Scots pine). The direction of drift is from left to right, i.e. from west to east. The sharp edge of the encroaching dune is visible. The trees on the dune will have their bases at the same height as the uncovered foreground indicating that they are covered for a considerable height.
