Description: | River Findhorn at Quilichan. Nairnshire. A close-up of the right side of the valley seen in C01418 showing river and glaciofluvial terraces, recessional moraine and a deeply eroded gully in glacial drift. Succession of alluvial terraces cut chiefly out of drift deposits, showing stages in the lowering of the Findhorn glacier. On left - bend of river undermining decomposing granite and schist, overlain by drift. On right top part, a major washout in glacial deposits. Recessional moraine is one built during a temporary but significant pause in the final retreat of a glacier. |
