Description: | View from Polochaig looking south-west up the Findhorn Valley, 4.8 km. east of Loch Moy. Inverness-shire. Showing the effects of the stages in the retreat of the Findhorn glacier. Scar of schist and granite with moraines on skyline, and high glaciofluvial kame terraces formed by the side of the retreating Findhorn glacier. The lower terraces either side of the river are recent alluvium of the River Findhorn. The photograph forms part of a panorama with C01313. A kame terrace is a continuous valley-side landform that is laid down by meltwater at the junction between an ice mass and the valley wall. |
