Description: 1 m. NE of Wrotham Church. Looking SSE. Chalk escarpment. In the middle distance the Melbourne Rock forms a level platform at the foot of the scarp. The change in the direction of the scarp in the centre of the picture is due to change of dip towards the subsidiary syncline in which the Medway runs. The hills on the far side of that river are visible in the distance on extreme right of picture.
