Description: 1 m. NE of Wrotham Church. Looking E. Chalk escarpment. The top is covered by Clay-with-flints, supporting woods, which, however, descend a short distance on the Chalk. The escarpment is mainly Middle Chalk. The Pilgrims Way in foreground runs, generally speaking, along the outcrop of the hard Melbourne Rock, which tends to form a ledge at the base of the scarp.
