Description: Gravel-pit, Biddenham, 1 3/4 m. W. of Bedford. Looking SW. The upper gravel thins in the north-west part of the pit. At this section a palaeolithic implement was found 18 feet below the grass-level. It is termed a 'tortoise-core' and is referable to the Le Moustier or Early Cave period.
