Description: Noss Head, 4.023 km. north of Wick. Caithness. Cliff section showing the uniform character of the flagstones of the Noss Head Group and the great joints that define the cliffs. The lighthouse and foghorn are clearly seen on the cliff top. The Noss Head Group comprises rapid alternations of thin beds of rippled sandstones, pale greenish mudstones, thin lenticular black limestones and thin black flags. The rapid alternation of beds is clearly picked out by weathering in the cliff face. The gentle dip seawards produces the slightly overhanging cliffs.
