| Description: | Geos (formerly goes) are typically long inlets with more or less parallel and vertical sided walls which rise to the full height of the cliff. They are frequently formed along lines of weakness, crush or 'rucks' where the beds are tilted between vertical joint planes. Geo cut in the horizontal flagstones of the Thurso Group. This geo, the largest in Caithness, has two entrances from the sea, one by a narrow canyon and the other by a cave excavated through the cliff. |
