Description: Gore Cliff (general view) about 2 m. SW of Niton. Looking NW. Upper Greensand at Gore Cliff (c). The Chert Beds (22 ft.) in upper part of cliff slightly overhanging the Freestones (6-8 ft.) just below them. Remainder of cliff in sandstones with concretions. Lower Chalk above the cliff on right. The white bluff above the cliff near middle of view is chalky rain-wash of Recent age. Ref: 'A short account of the geology of the Isle of Wight', pp.55, 64, 194.
