A small spring from the Middle Chalk, remarkable for its position, high up on the steep southern face of St. Boniface Down. The overhung pool of the spring, about 1 ft. in diameter, is kept open by the muzzles of the downland cattle. Ref: 'A short account of the geology of the Isle of Wight', pp.70, 204.
