Description: | Cliff N. side of Luccombe Chine, Luccombe Bay. Looking N. Lower Greensand at Luccombe Chine. Wooded northern side of Luccombe Chine, on left, cut at right-angles by quickly-wasting cliff of bare Sandrock. Bed of dark clay in the Sandrock runs through lower part of cliff, forming a shelf from which mud-flows descend. The straight edge of the cliff follows a band of hard phosphatic concretions, containing logs of drift-wood at the base of the clay. The indistinctly bedded white sands above the clay are overlain by alternations of sand and clay near the upper limit of the Sandrock Series. Part of the succeeding Carstone appears at the angle of the chine. Coarse rubble of slipped Gault and Upper Greensand at top of cliff in right half of view.
