Description: Cliff about 100 yd. E. of Yaverland Fort sea-wall, Sandown Bay. Looking N. Wealden Shales, Yaverland. A newly-exposed surface, in which the laminate structure is hardly discernible. Thin seams of Cyrena media with scattered Viviparus spp. near the middle. The beds here shown are near the base of the Shales. Length of walking-stick visible is 33 inches. Ref: 'A short account of the geology of the Isle of Wight', p.18.
