Description: Cliff about 150 yd. S. of the Crab and Lobster Inn, Foreland. Looking NE. Raised beach near the foreland (b). Near view of bluff shown in No. A1740. Fine to coarse obliquely-bedded shingle in sand. The larger stones, up to 1? ft. or more in diameter, are sub-angular flints, and blocks of Selbornian sandstone and Oligocene clay-ironstone. The shingle is capped by gravelly loam, and rests on Bembridge Marls, hidden by talus and vegetation. Length of walking-stick is 35 inches. Ref: 'A short account of the geology of the Isle of Wight', p.176.
