Description: | Culbin sand-hills. Morayshire. Arrest of drifting sand by plantation of Scotch fir (Scots pine). The direction of sand-drift is parallel to edge of plantation and away from observer, i.e. from west to east. Plantations were mostly native Scots pine though Corsican pine introduced in the 1900's now occupies about 30% of the forest, chiefly on the higher dunes. |
