Description: Culbin sand-hills. Morayshire. Travelling sand-dunes occur in far distance, in front is an old land surface swept clear of advancing sand. The direction of sand-drift is away from observer, i.e. from west to east. In the foreground grasses help stabilize the dune by reducing the strength of the wind at ground level, creating pockets of still air, and hence reducing the amount of sand being blown.
