Description: The Woodlands Quarry, Hartshill (Messrs Tibbets). Junction of Hartshill Quartzite and the overlying Stockingford Shales. Dip about 40 degrees SW. A still of diorite is seen near the base of the shale (on the left). The quartzite here is of purplish colour and more of the nature of a sandstone than a true quartzite. The beds on the extreme right include the Hyoliths limestone.
