Description: | Culbin sand-hills. Morayshire. A distant photograph showing the desert-like nature of the rolling dunes. The steep faces of the blown sand and the wind-ripples in foreground indicate that the sand-drift is almost towards the observer, i.e. from west to east. The shape of dunes varied from high dome-shaped hills of sand up to 100 feet high while others were 10-30 feet high, some crescentic like barchans, some conical while others formed well-marked ridges trending in an east-north-east direction. |
