Description: Fossil Forest, E. of Lulworth Cove. Looking WNW. The upper half of the cliff is composed of Purbeck 'Broken Beds'. The broad ledge below them shows a number of dome-shaped masses of calcareous tufa, in which are enclosed stools of coniferous trees, silicified. The junction of Purbeck and Portland Beds is marked by the lowest conspicuous bedding-plane below the ledge.
