Description: About 200 yd. E. by N. from Ford House, Curbar. Looking E. of NE. Trail of boulders from the upper pebbly part of the Chatsworth Grit. This pebbly grit makes the bold escarpment of Baslow Edge on the skyline. All the small excrescences on the surface of the field in the foreground are produced by these boulders partly sunk in the soil and overgrown with turf. Some of the boulders have travelled three-quarters of a mile, with a descent of about 600 feet, the greater part of which descent was accomplished in the first half of the distance travelled. The boulder-trails, of which the photograph does not give a good idea, are attributed to the agency of sliding snow-slopes subsequent to the actual glaciation of the district.
