Description: Cliff NE of Sheep Island, Angle. Looking NW. Contemporaneous erosion and contraction-cracks in Lower Old Red Sandstone. That part of A972 lettered A. The current-bedded sandstone on the right is banked against a cliff-like face of red marl. Note the sill-like lamina of sandstone above the hammer and the system of tapering sandstone 'veins' passing down from this lamina and filling contraction-cracks in the red marl immediately below. Of two of these 'veins', to the right of the hammer, the flat sides are partly exposed.
