Description: | Cliff NE of Sheep Island, Angle. Looking NW. Contemporaneous erosion in Lower Old Red Sandstone. General view of current-bedded sandstone cutting irregularly into red marl. That part of the junction seen at A is shown on a larger scale in A973. B is an uneroded part of the red marl. The hammer lies on the horizon of the top of the sandstone 'veins' seen in A973, but near it the 'veins', which can be seen, are not connected by a bed of sandstone as in A973. The beds are roughly cleaved. |
