Description: | The 'Three Chimneys', Marloes Bay. Looking ENE. Three bands of mudstone, alternating with bands of quartzite, in the Upper Llandovery rocks. The quartzites stand out as pilasters, while the mudstones form hollows. As the beds are nearly vertical and are prominent for the whole height of the cliff (about 120 feet), the name 'Three Chimneys' is not inappropriate. |
