Description: Westdale Bay, Dale. Looking SSE. Old valley filled with 'head' and shown in section in a sea cliff. The 'head' is chiefly angular debris of the local Old Red Marls, with a small proportion of drift pebbles, set in a loamy brown matrix. It is rudely stratified and exhibits a gentle dip towards the central line of the valley. The height of the cliff is 50 feet, and at high water mark the width of the deposit is 40 yards, the bottom being invisible. The sides of the valley descend under the 'head' at angles of 40 degrees.
