Description: Grower Gut, Boscastle. Junction of Upper Devonian and Carboniferous rocks. The Upper Devonian rocks are pale grey green phyllites speckled with numerous white feldspars and containing fossils, such as spirifer verneuite. The Carboniferous rocks are black carbonaceous shales with seams of grit and represent a totally different group of conditions of deposition from that which obtained in the Devonian beneath.
