Description: | Brent Tor from Was Tor. Distant view from Brent Tor. The crag of Brent Tor is seen from a plateau which is about 950 feet above O.D. The crag is of pillow lava, and an outlier of this rock is seen in the middle distance above the houses. Both masses of lava rest on chert, and the latter rock forms the hill in the foreground. The wood on the skyline is on Carboniferous shales, with grits which have been thrust over the chert. Elsewhere the chert rests on Carboniferous shales and mudstones. On the left side of the picture is seen the Valley of the Burn, a tributary of the Tavy. |
