Description: Greendykes, West Lothian, looking east towards Broxburn Bing. Spent oil-shale of Broxburn Bing. Cottages and building on site of former oil-shale mine. The photograph shows the considerable size and extent of the bing, the oil-shale industry's accumulated waste from over 100 years. The site of the former mine has been reclaimed and landscaped for other uses as have other bings at Deans, Uphall Station and Oakbank.
