Description: | View from the south-east side of Kemnay Quarry, looking to north-west. Aberdeenshire. Kemnay Quarry with Bennachie in background. Foreground shows Kemnay Quarry, working Kemnay Granite. Old (19th century) workings were in flooded area and recently infilled area in front of large cliff on left. High ground in background is underlain by Bennachie granite. Prominent summit is Mither Tap. Intervening, largely forested ground is mostly underlain by Dalradian metasediments. Crushing plant is on the right, crane in centre foreground. |
