| Description: | Between Buttern and Leskernick Hills, Altarnun. Looking SW. View of an old streamers working in a thick mass of 'unassorted' wash or head lying on a watershed in a col. It is 40 feet thick in one place, the quartzite is so decomposed, owing to the age of the deposit, that it altered to soft clay, in which the original quartz grains of the quartzite are alone visible and even those are often broken up. In such an exposed position it must have been washed away during the Plurial epoch had it not been either frozen in snow or covered and so protected. |
