Description: Hyndford Quarry. Lanarkshire. The working face of the sand and gravel quarry. Cobble and boulder gravel overlies finer-grained sands and gravels, the base of the former is marked by a pronounced erosion surface. Cross-stratification occurs throughout the deposits which probably represent a prograding delta sequence. A front loader is seen tipping into a riffle box, used to remove the larger boulders. The conveyor extending to the right takes the finer material to the screening plant.
