Description: | Lantern China-clay Works, near Rescorla, St. Austell. Looking NE. Clay-pit. This view of the clay-pit shows extremely well the incline for the removal of the sand, and at its base the sand-pits. At the surface can be seen the engine house with the pump on its left. (See photograph No. A176). The engine controls both the pumping machinery and that which serves for the winding and unwinding of the steel rope which draws the trucks of sand up the incline. |
