Description: Woodbank Site, north of East Wemyss. Fifeshire. Opencast coal production. A number of lorries and a bulldozer at work in the cut. View looking east along 3rd cut. Dysart Main Coal being removed from floor of cut. Boulder clay partially stripped from rock forms bank on right. The Dysart Main Coal has a tendency to spontaneous combustion due, it is believed, to oxidation of iron pyrites in the seam.
