Description: Woodbank Site, north of East Wemyss. Fifeshire. Opencast coal production. A shovel excavator is loading coal into a lorry. View showing excavation of Dysart Main Coal with rock overburden being removed by draglines. Boulder clay is being removed by scrapers from rockhead and forms bank in centre middle distance. The Dysart Main Coal is classed as a third class hose and steam coal. Though a comparatively low grade seam, its great thickness has made it an attractive proposition for mining.
