Description: Bogside No. 2 Site, Westfield Coalfield, north-east of Ballingry. Opencast coal production. Fifeshire. General view of part of site, looking west-south-west towards Benarty Hill in middle background. Level ground in centre shows rockhead; dump of boulder clay to right; exploratory cross-cut trench in foreground is to prove coals above Bogside Thick Group. A number of working trucks can be seen. The rockhead is the boundary between the superficial deposits and the underlying solid rock.
