Description: Craignair Hill No. 2 Quarry, Dalbeattie. Kirkcudbrightshire. A view of the quarry face showing well-developed high-angle jointing in the granodiorite rock. The crane is hand operated, the winch handle can just be seen. The method of holding down the crane stays using large stone blocks is clearly visible on the left of the photograph. The crane is being used to load the granodiorite into a side-tipping bogie running on a light railway. The light railway ran to a crushing plant at Craignair Bridge.
