Description: Craignair Hill Quarry, Dalbeattie. Kirkcudbrightshire. A view of the base of quarry showing a jumble of granodiorite blocks brought down by blasting. The photograph shows a number of quarrymen and their hand tools, mostly sledgehammers and crowbars but also including a pneumatic drill. In the centre a block has recently been split by the 'plug and feathers' method.
