Description: Glebe and Kirkmabreck Quarry, Creetown. Kirkcudbrightshire. A photograph showing the quarry face. General view. The stone is taken off the 'cross-reed' joints by mining with gunpowder, and is handled by means of cranes several of which are in view. The smooth surfaces of the major joints are clearly seen in quarry face. Narrow-gauge railway tracks are in the foreground. Kirkmabreck Quarry is still in operation (1997) by Tarmac Roadstone (Scotland) Ltd.
