Description: | Corncockle Quarry, Lochmaben. Dumfriesshire. General view along the working platform in the Corncockle Sandstone Formation. Several vertical steam-powered cranes are positioned along the top of the quarry faces. Working stone against the dip was the general method of extraction, this method was also seen at Locharbriggs Quarry. Three quarrymen can be seen seated at the base of the quarry face. Corncockle Quarry is still currently being worked today (1998) by Dunhouse Quarry Company Limited. |
