Description: Locharbriggs Quarry. Dumfriesshire. A view of the working face in the Locharbriggs Sandstone Formation at the base of the quarry. The medium- to fine-grained red sandstone can clearly be seen dipping between 10 and 30 degrees to the south-west. Several quarrymen can be seen with a variety of hand tools. The hoses draped over the beds are for pneumatic drills. The Locharbriggs Sandstone Formation is of Permian age. The quarry was noted for the preservation of reptile footprints on the bedding planes.
