Description: Cowglen, near Thornliebank, 3 miles south-west of Glasgow. Renfrewshire. Shallow stoop and room workings in Main or Rough Coal, exposed during excavations at New Fever Hospital site. Early stage of excavation. Note the line of wooden wheelbarrows, the various picks and shovels and the excavator in the background. Planking across the tops of the old pillars is used as walkways during the excavation.
