Description: | Moss-litter Works, Dunmore Moss, 8.9 km. east-south-east of Stirling. Rows of cut peat dried and ready for stacking. Cut dried peat covering an extensive area of Dunmore Moss. The processing sheds seen in C03036 can be seen in the distance. The 90 acre Dunmore Moss has been systematically cut under Dutch supervision by Richardson's Moss Litter Co. since 1900. Annual output averaged 3000-4000 tons. Pre-First World War the price was 16 shillings and by 1920 about 50-60 shillings per ton. |
