Description: Dunduff Quarry, Lesmahagow. Looking north. Lanarkshire. General view of quarry working a felsite sill 12 m. thick, in Lower Old Red Sandstone, the sole of the sill forming the quarry floor. The photograph shows a network of narrow-gauge railway tracks on the very flat quarry floor. A cable-hauled, fully-loaded truck is being hauled up the incline while two empty trucks on a separate line have just been lowered. Other quarries in the district working felsite include Cairngryffe Quarry, Cloburn Quarry, Devonside Quarry and Stonebyres Quarry. Felsite is a fine-grained acid or intermediate igneous rock.
