British and foreign marbles and other ornamental stones. Cambridge : University Press, 1916. 588 ALABAMA CREAM WHITE. Gantts Quarries, Talladega County, Alabama. As the specimen shews, this marble is nearly white in colour, fine in texture, and , unusually hard for a white crystalline rock. It is often employed for internal panelling. Examples may be seen in the Banking Room of the Custom House, New York, and in the Insurance Exchange, Chicago. It was also used for decorating the interior of the State Capitol of Arkansas. |
